Panel consisting of Ellen Yellin, CPA of Bourgeois Bennett; Billy Henry of Tharp Sontheimer Tharp Funeral Home; and Vicki Hughes of Notre Dame Hospice.  They will be talking about everything you and your clients need to know about end of life issues.

 

Ellen Yellin

As Director of Tax and Employee Benefits for the distinguished accounting firm of Bourgeois Bennett, Ellen specializes in working with clients from the retail and wholesale industries and medical and legal professions. She also advises clients on tax, retirement planning and employee benefit planning.

Before joining Bourgeois Bennett, Ellen worked with a national accounting firm.  A Tennessee native, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science at Newcomb College before receiving an MBA from Tulane University.

Extremely active in the community,  Ellen serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, the Cornerstone Council of the Greater New Orleans Foundation, and is treasurer of CourtWatch NOLA. She is a past president of the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Louisiana and  a past board member of Touro Synagogue and Touro Infirmary.

She was named a City Business Woman of the Year in 2004 and 2009 and a City Business Money Maker in 2012.

Within the business community, she is active in the Association of Employee Benefit Planners, the Society of Louisiana CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

 

 

Billy Henry is has been Vice President-General Manager of Tharp-Sontheimer Funeral Homes and affiliates since 1980.  He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and holds a National as well as Louisiana license.  He is a graduate of the University of Texas and Commonwealth College of Mortuary Science in Houston, TX. 

Billy is a regular trainer for the Resolve Through Sharing Program for nurses and healthcare givers in handling stillborns, teaches annually for the New Orleans Tour Guides Association and speaks frequently for Tulane's Death and Dying course for the MSW program.
