About Our Speakers

Laura Walker Plunkett joined Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. in 2002, where she is a member of the Management Committee and chairs the Firm's wealth advisory practice groups (Trusts and Estates; Nonprofits; and Fiduciary Litigation).  She is an Estate Planning and Administration Specialist, Certified by the Louisiana Board of Legal Specialization.  Prior to moving to Louisiana, she practiced in McLean, Virginia with McGuireWoods.  She concentrates her practice in the counseling of owners of privately-held businesses and high net worth individuals in their estate, tax and business succession planning and philanthropic endeavors, including private foundations, plus succession administration, including high-stakes fiduciary litigation. 

Ms. Plunkett graduated with distinction in 1997 from the Emory University School of Law and was a member of the Moot Court Society.  She earned an advanced legal degree in taxation from the New York University School of Law in 1999.  She received her undergraduate degree in 1993 from Emory University.  She is admitted to practice law in Georgia, Alabama, Virginia and Louisiana. 

Ms. Plunkett is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  She was an officer of the Tax Section of the Louisiana State Bar Association from 2004 to 2013, when she completed her service as Chair of the Tax Section.  Ms. Plunkett is a member of the board the New Orleans Estate Planning Council.   She is also a member of the Board and a past president of the Symphony Volunteers, Inc., for which she has served as an officer since 2005, and serves on the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Southshore Advisory Council.  Ms. Plunkett is a graduate of the 2006 CBNO/MAC Metropolitan Leadership Forum and a 2014 graduate of the New Orleans Regional Leadership Institute.  She is a member of the Tulane Estate Planning Institute Advisory Board; New Orleans Bar Association, Wills/Trusts/Successions Committee; and the Greater New Orleans Foundation Cornerstone Council.  She is a frequent author and speaker.
