Summary: Mr. Coats will provide a general background on business valuation. More specifically Mr. Coats will discuss the market approach, the income approach, and the asset approach all with a focus on professional service firms.

Having spent his entire professional career at BCG Valuations, Greg Coats became a Partner in 2017 and was appointed President in 2020.
In his professional capacity, Mr. Coats has performed valuation analyses in the contexts of fairness opinions, mergers and acquisitions, litigation support, financial reporting, and tax planning. Mr. Coats has experience in the valuation of privately held securities of companies across various industries, including automotive dealerships, financial services, healthcare, mining, holding companies and multi-modal transportation. Mr. Coats has significant experience with both early stage companies and distressed companies.
Mr. Coats earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 2017. He is a member of the CFA Society New York (previously named the New York Society of Security Analysts), the New York City based CFA society.
Mr. Coats has presented on valuation topics to attorneys, including as a guest lecturer at the University of Miami School of Law’s Heckerling Graduate Program in Estate Planning. Mr. Coats was a panelist at the Eastern Economic Association’s 45th annual conference in New York City. His presentation covered common errors when applying the market approach and how to avoid them. This presentation was made to the National Association of Forensic Economics, one of the groups attending the conference.
Mr. Coats is a summa cum laude graduate of Rider University, with a B.S. in Business Administration. He majored in finance and business economics and received a certificate in investment analysis.
